National ENTREPRENEUR day

For some people working hard is something they do when the time calls for it. For Wayne Wooten, it’s who he is. If there is another way to work Wayne’s never know it.

After 23 years, he left the residential roofing industry, vowing to never darken a landfill or roof again.

In 2002, Empire Disposal made him an offer he couldn’t refuse.  Shortly after joining the Empire Team, every employee left. Wooten was thrust into the forefront of every aspect of the business. He drove the roll off truck, as well as answering the phone for sales and service calls. The hours were long and sometimes difficult but, he prevailed. Most would have seen this as a burden, but Wooten saw the opportunity.

Empire had a modest fleet of 2 trucks in 2002. Today that fleet has grown to 22 roll-off and 5 front load trucks. Empire has also expanded into the residential sector.

Wayne lives under the moto: “take care of your customers, and they will take care of you”. That is the primary building block at Empire Disposal.

Wooten and the 30 employees at Empire Disposal take pride in not only their company but community projects as well. Empire participates in The Parade of Lights, March for Babies and various Wounded Warrior projects. They are also involved in Wreaths Across America, placing wreaths on gravesites at the DFW National cemetery.

Under Wooten’s leadership Empire Disposal has become a leader the DFW waste industry.
